Dado & Slim | lamps
The lamps designed by Gianni Lo Giudice in 2006 blend elegance and irony in the High-Dech style. Dado is a floor lamp made of steel and glass, inspired by a gaming die, while Slim, available in Floor, Wall, and Desk versions, is a collection of sleek and minimalist lamps featuring a chrome steel structure and borosilicate glass diffusers.
Light and Irony, Playfulness and Lightness
In 2006, Gianni Lo Giudice designed two distinctive lighting projects for Rossetti Light: the Dado floor lamp and the Slim collection, which includes Slim Floor, Slim Wall, and Slim Desk. These two approaches to lighting share a common pursuit of balance between pure forms, refined materials, and a design language that merges technology and decoration a hallmark of the High-Dech style.
DADO – The Play of Light
The Dado floor lamp reinterprets one of the most iconic objects from the world of games the dice through the lens of lighting design. The idea stems from a desire to merge the playful nature of its shape with the sophistication of high-end materials, resulting in a decorative piece that both surprises and fascinates.
Made of steel and glass, Dado contrasts its simple form with the elegance of its materials, transforming it into a design object that interacts seamlessly with its surroundings. As light filters through its perforations, it creates an enchanting play of shadows, emphasizing the concepts of chance and unpredictability inherent to its original inspiration. More than just a light source, this lamp is a narrative object, capable of evoking emotions and memories through its striking presence.
SLIM – The Lightness of Light
As its name suggests, the Slim collection is defined by an essential, elongated design that emphasizes verticality and refined proportions. The project includes three variations: Slim Floor, the floor lamp; Slim Wall, the wall-mounted sconce and Slim Desk, the table lamp.
Slim Floor is a tall, slender floor lamp featuring a chrome steel stem that rises from a square base, culminating in a cylindrical light diffuser made of borosilicate glass a material known for its purity and thermal resistance. Its sleek and minimal look makes it perfect for sophisticated environments where light serves as a subtle yet defining element.
Slim Wall is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional bugia the classic candle holder with a handle transformed into a contemporary wall sconce with a chrome steel structure and a square frosted glass diffuser. Its elegant aesthetic makes it highly versatile, fitting seamlessly into both residential and contract settings.
Slim Desk, designed for desk lighting, maintains the same purity of form and proportions, offering functional yet refined illumination for work and study spaces.
A Recognizable Aesthetic: Elegance with a Touch of Irony
Both Dado and Slim embody Gianni Lo Giudice’s design philosophy, where functionality meets aesthetic exploration, infused with a hint of irony. The clean geometries, high-quality materials, and meticulous attention to light as a design element elevate these lamps beyond mere lighting solutions they become statement pieces capable of enhancing and defining any space.
These creations align seamlessly with the High-Dech style, where technology and decoration merge in a sophisticated balance, transforming light into a sensory and visual experience.
First introduced in 2006, the Dado and Slim lamps remain a testament to how design can play with form and perception while maintaining its fundamental purpose to illuminate with style and character.
