Sandalmazi is a steakhouse and pub located in Cogliate, founded in 2017 inside an industrial warehouse adjacent to the brewery of the same name, set against the picturesque backdrop of the Parco delle Groane. A place that celebrates craft beer and the art of grilled meats, it transforms an industrial space into a warm and inviting environment without sacrificing its contemporary character.

At the heart of the venue is the front wall that separates the dining area from the kitchen, housing a grand grill—the true focal point of the space. In front of it, an impressive bar counter showcases two refrigerated display cases where meats are presented before cooking. A second side counter is dedicated to the pouring of beer brewed on-site, offering guests a direct and authentic tasting experience.

Design & Acoustics – High-Dech with an Industrial Approach
The project tackled the challenge of making a rigid, linear industrial space feel welcoming by incorporating wooden slat boiserie, accented with steel profiles. This choice not only visually warms the environment but also serves as a sound-absorbing panel, enhancing acoustic comfort.

Integrated lighting plays a key role: LED strips embedded in the boiserie create a dynamic effect, while vertical, interchangeable PVC-printed displays add a layer of customization and versatility.

To further improve acoustics, an irregular wooden false ceiling was designed, completed with white fabric panels. This solution conceals the warehouse’s suspended technical systems—lighting, air treatment ducts, and electrical installations—while eliminating sound reverberation and bringing greater harmony to the space.

The High-Dech style is expressed through a combination of warm wood and steel details, punctuated by bold color accents. The central grill is framed by a striking red wall, emphasizing its role as the heart of the venue, while the red marble bar counters add a touch of refined materiality.

Sandalmazi is a perfect example of how design can transform an industrial setting into a sophisticated yet inviting space, creating a unique sensory experience that blends materiality, functionality, and a contemporary atmosphere.
